Serenading Sarah Words and music by David Michael King ©2011 (BMI) They were singing karaoke, “Sweet Caroline” But Sarah was the only girl on my mind Dreaming ‘bout the day I’d hold her in my arms And then to my surprise, she walked in the bar I was so shy, I couldn’t look her way But something strange was happening to me that day Maybe it’s the wine, I guess I’ll never know I jumped up on the stage and grabbed the microphone I started Serenading Sarah Singing sweetly with the flair of Marvin Gaye and Bobby Darin I could be so smooth I knew that I could never bear a- Nother day until I’d tell her, “Oh Sarah, I love you” I tried out all those moves that I saw on TV Swaying my hips, falling to my knees My voice was growing stronger, I could feel the song rise I lifted one hand and I closed my eyes The crowd was yelling louder, cheering me on But she’s the only reason I was singing that song She barely knew my name, but when I was through My voice was so tender she would love me too I was Serenading Sarah Singing sweetly with the flair of Marvin Gaye and Bobby Darin I could sound so smooth I knew that I could never bear a- Nother day until I’d tell her “Oh Sarah, I love you” She knew my secret, I’d been set free I knew she was out there waiting for me I turned around but something was wrong She left the ladies room where she’d been all along I never serenaded Sarah Even though I had the flair of Marvin Gaye and Bobby Darin I was such a fool I guess that I will have to bear a- Nother day until I tell her “Oh Sarah, I love you.”

Her Facebook Page Words and Music by David Michael King © 2011 (BMI) I fell in love with a modern girl A pair of headphones on her curls In her hand, the latest gadgetry I never really paid no mind To what was goin’ on online Until she broke my heart, virtually It sure gave me a fright To see my name in lights On her cyberstage Country songs don’t start this way My Dear John letter’s on display On Her Facebook Page. She’d answer me with cell phone calls Emails from the shopping mall Text me if she might be running late She used lots of fancy things Even instant messaging Now she says we don’t communicate Tell your man “so long” While downloading songs Must be all the rage What would Jimmie and Waylon say If their heart got broke this way On Her Facebook Page. I miss the days when love affairs Ended face to face Someone started slamming doors Even wreck the place What became of honesty Those good old-fashioned fights ‘Cause now that we’ve gone digital Love sure megabytes. So if you want to leave someday Don’t do anything halfway Throw your lover’s clothes out on the street Give him back his diamond ring You could try most anything As long as you don’t break up with a Tweet Some folks use their mouse To end things with their spouse In this modern age I never thought our love would end With her saying “Let’s unfriend” On Her Facebook Page Country songs don’t end this way My Dear John letter’s on display On Her Facebook On Her Facebook On Her Facebook Page.

Sing Me a Love Song Words and music by David Michael King © 2011 (BMI) Don’t bring me roses Keep the perfume Find yourself a new way To say “I love you” Give me a gift No money could buy Grab that guitar And look into my eyes Sing Me a Love Song You wrote just for me With lyrics of longing A haunting melody Strum a gentle beat Add words sad and sweet Sing me my love song tonight The wind in my hair A moonlit balcony I will play the muse For all your poetry Find words that rhyme With “lovely” and “bright” Keep adding more I’ve got all night Compose the bridge In a minor key To show you’d feel sad If I should leave Be sure your voice soars When you sing of my eyes If you choose the right words I might even cry.

We Could Easily Fall in Love Words and music by David Michael King © 2011 (BMI) I gaze in your eyes And soon I forget That you and I just met Tell me your thoughts As they turn the lights down low “Did I turn off the stove?” On a night like tonight We Could Easily Fall in Love Surrender yourself To passion tonight Tell me once more Are you George or Dwight? Our candlelit meal Is this stainless steel Gives me a thrill Did I give Sue her pill tonight I touch your hand My heart skips a… beat Can you feel the heat Whisper sweet things That Latin lovers say “Is that a toupee?” On a night like tonight We Could Easily Fall in Love Believe that a kiss Is love’s sweet prologue I want to believe I let out the dog I just need a break I feel my heart ache A little romance Would you like to dance tonight You won my heart I’m here by your side The stars will be our guide Nothing can stop This love we feel so deep Did you fall asleep? Tell me why is it so hard To Easily Fall in Love I’m sick and I’m tired of trying to Fall in Love.

Beer, Smoke, Skin and Sweat Words and music by David Michael King ©2011 (BMI) I work hard, play by the rules Friday night, I put away my tools I wanna drink, a smoke, and then a few more Short skirts and a steamy dance floor Beer, Smoke, Skin and Sweat No bright lights, no fancy drinks for me I wanna dive where I can hardly see I don’t want a lounge with some uptown groove Just a packed dance floor where I can barely move Beer, Smoke, Skin and Sweat I wanna band that’ll free my soul With a little bit of country, a lot of rock ‘n’ roll Wrap your lovin’ arms around me Feel the heat climb to a hundred and three Take me to a bar on the seedy side of town Somethin’ happens to me when the sun goes down Beer, Smoke, Skin and Sweat I got feelings I just can’t ignore We could stay out all night long and I’d want more The band is playin’ at a fever pitch I wanna scratch but I can’t find the itch Beer, Smoke, Skin and Sweat I wanna band that’ll free my soul With a little bit of country, a lot of rock ‘n’ roll Wrap your lovin’ arms around me Feel the heat climb to a hundred and three By the light of day, I’m a good little boy But after dark I play with other toys Beer, Smoke, Skin and Sweat.

about

With a decidedly satricial approach to the subject of love, David tells stories of a man declaring his love in a karaoke performance, the attempted wooing of a very distracted woman, and a break-up on Facebook. David explores these stories and others through a variety of musical styles--the tango...doo-wop...the blues...a ballad and country.
